Batavia, NY — The pacing sensation See You At Peelers remained unbeaten when she took an accident marred $44,820 New York Sire Stakes event for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Wednesday night (Sept. 8) at Batavia Downs Casino.

The Bettor’s Delight-West Side Glory filly is now a perfect nine for nine.

Jim Morrill, Jr. brushed to the front at the quarter and she never had an anxious moment en route to an under wraps 1:56.4 score. Dreamlands Roxy (Stephane Bouchard) finished a clear second while Miss Annie J (Bruce Ranger) was farther back in third.

Sitting in the pocket rounding the last turn in that race, JK Owhatanite with Steve Smith got rough-gaited and made a break causing a chain reaction. Both Ray Schnittker driving Delight Party and Ray Fisher, Jr. sitting behind City Delight were unseated. All horses seemed to be okay while Fisher may have suffered bruised ribs. Schnittker was reported to be fine.

See You at Peelers is owned by breeder Christina Takter along with John and Jim Fielding. Jimmy Takter conditions the talented filly who raised her lifetime earnings to over $140,000.

“She’s just unbelievable, she does everything so effortlessly,” Morrill commented.

The opening NYSS division of the evening went to My Girl’s A Star with trainer/driver Ray Schittker. The Art Major-Ifuwantitcumngetit filly notched her seventh win of the season when she went gate-to-wire in 1:56, holding off a closing Winbak Corazon (Phil Fluet) by a half-length. Her 2010 earnings are in excess of $120,000 for owner Mathias Meinzinger.

Grounded ($37.00) with Steve Smith in the bike pulled the upset in another split, getting the nod in a four-horse blanket finish. Spotted second-over following heavily favored Character Flaw, Smith tipped the Riverboat King-Late Curfew filly three-wide at the top of the stretch and she paced strongly to the wire to score by a quarter-length over One Night (Jack Flanigen) and Angelwithnattitude (Stephane Bouchard) in 1:57.2.

Gounded scored for the first time in her career for owners Jerry Calcagni and Frank Calgagni, who also trains.

New York Sires Stakes action continues on Friday (Sept. 10) when the 3-year-old trotting fillies get their turn when racing returns at America’s oldest harness track. There are four divisions carded, worth over $37,000 each.

Munis Blue Chip, already a seven-time winner this season, has been installed as the 3-5 favorite in the 11th race, the final NYSS event of the evening. Jim Morrill, Jr. picks up the catch drive for trainer Ray Schnittker. In 23 lifetime starts the Credit Winner-Hustle N Muscle filly has earned more than $425,000.

In addition, the Friday program features four NY bred Late Closers for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers, worth $13,200 each. One of the Late Closers will be a non-wagering event to be held at 6 p.m.
