Longshot Enchantment produced a $59.40 win mutuel on Monday.

In the third split of the night, it was longshot Enchantment who scored the upset for driver Keith Oliver in 1:59. The daughter of Angus Hall-Madam Super Bowl moved first-over past the half and eventually wore down race favorite L A Freeway in mid-stretch.

Enchantment went on to win comfortably with My Whispering Eye rallying late along the inside to nail the place spot over L A Freeway who held third. The winner returned a whopping $59.40 to her backers.

The victory was the first in two tries for Enchantment who is trained by William Companion for the Common Sense Stable and Kor Mel Stable Limited.

It was Peach Martini who delivered as expected in the first elimination. The daughter of Striking Sahbra left from post seven for trainer-driver Rick Zeron and cleared to the lead before the opening quarter of :28.1. Peach Martini then led her rivals through the half in :59.3 and three-quarters in 1:30.4.

As the field headed for home, Miss Janine and driver Paul MacDonell angled to the outside but failed to pass the heavily favored Peach Martini. Peach Martini stopped the clock in 1:59.4 with South Bay and driver Keith Oliver finishing second while Miss Jenine completed the triactor.

Peach Martini now has seasonal earnings of $69,675 and earned herself a new lifetime best for the Rick Zeron Stable, Rojan Stables, Michael Katz and Stephan Waldman. She paid $3.40 for the victory.

Extraordinaire and trainer-driver Wayne Henry took the second elimination in a new lifetime best of 1:59.3.

Leaving from post nine, the daughter of Duke Of York positioned herself third before the opening quarter of :29.2 which was put up by Quantum Victoria and driver Karen Carroll. As the field headed towards the half, Some Like It Hot and driver Lyle MacArthur cleared to the lead past Quantum Victoria and led the field past three-quarters in 1:30.2. Quantum Victoria, who was sitting second, broke stride and allowed Extraordinaire into second position as the field headed for home.

Wayne Henry then took advantage of a ground saving trip and Extraordinaire easily went past Some Like It Hot while stopping the clock in 1:59.3. Some Like It Hot faded in the stretch which allowed Herbies Lenu to finish second with Ms Canada Kadabra third.

With the victory, Extraordinaire now has earnings of $84,254 in her freshman campaign for the Henry Stables and James Laverty.

The final elimination fell to the race favorite Marys Out Cruizin, who stopped the clock in 1:59.1 for driver Trevor Ritchie. The daughter of Here Comes Herbie–Mary Lou Hall sat in for five-eighths of a mile before moving out to challenge the tempo-setting Scorpius as the field approached three-quarters.

As the field turned for home, Marys Out Cruizin was able to slowly wear down Scorpius and trotted clear for a measured victory. Scorpius held on for the place spot with Here Comes Jenny rounding out the top three. The winner returned $5.20 as the bettors’ choice.

It was the first win in two career tries for the Torgeir Hagmann trainee who is owned by Kjell Magne Andersen and the David Goodrow Stable.
