HHI urges support of ‘Back to the Track’

Chicago, IL — The Board of Directors of Harness Horsemen International unanimously supports the USTA’s “Back To The Track” weekend, slated for August 14 and 15, and urges all member associations to help encourage and support this industry-wide promotion.

The brainchild of USTA Executive Vice President Mike Tanner, “Back To The Track” will feature a variety of special events at the 20 harness racing venues that offer live racing on August 14 and 15.

All harness horsemen and their families are being asked to bring new and old fans alike “Back To The Track” that weekend in order to introduce or re-introduce people of all ages to the sport of harness racing and to celebrate one of America’s most traditional forms of live entertainment.

A wide variety of events will take place at participating racetracks, including giveaways, sulky rides, autograph sessions with harness racing’s leading drivers and trainers, and special wagering opportunities, such as a $50,000 National Pick-4 wager on August 14, sponsored by Meadowlands Racetrack.

Participating racetracks include: Balmoral Park, Batavia Downs, Cal-Expo, Freehold Raceway, Harrah’s Chester, Harrington Raceway, Hazel Park, Illinois State Fair, Indiana Downs, Jayland Trotting (Portland, Ind.), Mercer Co. Fair (Ohio), Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Monticello, Northfield Park, Raceway Park, Running Aces Harness Park, Saratoga Harness, Scarborough Downs, Scioto Downs, the Meadowlands, The Red Mile, Tioga and Vernon Downs, and Yonkers Raceway.
