Busy weekend ahead for WEG trainer

Campbellville, ON — Regular WEG trainer Tony O’Sullivan has a busy weekend ahead of him at Mohawk Racetrack and south of the border at The Meadowlands.

Dalhousie Dave has been entered into this Saturday’s Ontario Sire Stakes Gold elimination at Mohawk Racetrack while stablemate Seriously will race in the Mistletoe Shalee at The Meadowlands this Saturday, as well.

Dalhousie Dave, who finished third in the Canadian Breeders Championship final in his most recent start, will have Paul MacDonell handling the lines for the first time.

The 3-year-old son of Astreos has just eight lifetime starts but O’Sullivan has been pleased with his efforts so far.

“He raced well in his most recent start (Canadian Breeders Championship final). He simply got outpaced. He paced in (1):49.1, got beat, quite sad. O’Sullivan told WEG’s media department.

“He came a long way in a short period of time; he’s not a big strong horse so I’m going to have to manage him,” O’Sullivan commented.

Stablemate Seriously has drawn post three in her division of the Mistletoe Shalee for driver Jody Jamieson.

The 3-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover finished third last week to Put On A Show in her division of the Tarport Hap.

O’Sullivan is thankful he doesn’t have to face Put On A Show again this week.

“She’s (Put On A Show) is in a league all by herself. I think she (Seriously) can compete with them. Maybe she’s not versatile enough to really beat them but I think she has enough speed to give a good account of herself,” O’Sullivan stated.

Seriously is a half-sister to Blissful Smile who is owned by O’Sullivan and owner/breeder Emerald Highlands Farm.

O’Sullivan also provided the latest update on 3-year-old trotter Dontgetinhisway.

The son of Striking Sahbra also finished third in the final of the Canadian Breeders Championship last Saturday at Mohawk Racetrack.

O’Sullivan commented that Dontgetinhisway will get some much deserved time off.

“I’m going to give him (Dontgetinhisway) a break. The next OSS Gold event is at Flamboro and then the Flamboro Breeders and I never intended to race him on a half. I’m going to give him some time off and get him freshened up for his last eight starts.”
