I’m Justa Lady gets career win 67 in Meadows trot

Washington, PA — I’m Justa Lady kicked off Adios Week at The Meadows in grand style on Monday as she shot the Lightning Lane to capture her 67th career victory in the $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot.

I’m Justa Lady sat third at the top of the stretch, three lengths back and apparently gapping. But when Tony Hall showed her the Lightning Lane, she poured through to score in 1:55, a tick off her lifetime best. The first-over BV’s Sister was second by a half-length while early leader Hawaiianphotograph finished third.

Bill Daumit trains I’m Justa Lady, a 9-year-old daughter of Inquirer-Quite Becoming who now boasts career earnings of $585,694 for Janet Collins and Patricia Daumit.

Hall drove four winners on the 14-race card while Charlie Norris and Dave Palone each fashioned a three-bagger.

Adios Week features Grand Circuit racing Wednesday and Friday evenings and Saturday afternoon, highlighted by Saturday’s $500,000 final of the Delvin Miller Adios. First post Saturday is 12:55 p.m.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs
Hannington, reined by George Napolitano, Jr. and trained by Bill Mullin, won the Monday night feature race, a $20,000 claiming pace, at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Let go at 8-5 on the odds board, Hannington stopped the timer in 1:52.4, just a fifth of a second off the 6-year-old gelding’s life mark. This was his third win in 21 2010 starts and the first for the Bill Mullin Stable. Hannington was claimed out of the $20,000 claiming race for horses, colts and geldings on July 19 by Arthur Blutstein and was starting for the first time under the Mullin banner.
Lotta Lightning (Matt Kakaley) finished second in the race with third going to Lindwood Native (Jim Morrill, Jr.).

Northfield Park
With the Summit County Fair taking over Northfield Park Saturday night, the $6,000 Open Pace was moved to Monday and Tarver Hanover ($3.40) posted his second straight local win, despite being assigned the outside post eight. Dan Charlino put the winner forward early, but he was parked three-wide at the :27.4 quarter. The Sam Schillaci-trainee never saw the pylons, but turned back numerous challenges during the 1:54 mile, eventually emerging with a 2-1/4 length win over Camcoder, with Wow Power finishing third. The Wiz Kids Stable owns Tarver Hanover, a 9-year-old Ball And Chain stallion who has earned $706,994 in his career.
