Robert Roy Cotton, 64, dies

Columbus, OH — Longtime horseman Robert Roy Cotton, 64, of Berlin, Md., died July 13, 2010.

Mr. Cotton, who was a familiar face at Ocean Downs, campaigned horses such as Ruth’s Laag, Black Magic Walt, and his favorite, Always Hilarious p,5,1:54.3f ($95,319), who he raised.

He is survived by his companion, Mary Gay Sargent; brother, Richard; and sisters, Donna Warren and Kathy Oppito. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Roy Jr. and parents, Corinne Hays and Roy Cotton.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 17, at Whiskers Pub in Ocean Pines, Md., starting around 12:30 p.m.
