Middletown, NY — A trio of hot-handed drivers and a trainer were the “low gross team” at the Goshen Historic Track Golf Outing on Monday, July 12, at the Orange County Golf Club.

Drivers Tyler Buter and Brandon Simpson enjoyed refreshments before their winning performance.

Shooting a collective 62, for 10 under par in a modified scramble format, the team of Tyler Buter, Eric Goodell, Brandon Simpson and Jim Nickerson took the lively event very seriously and beat out over 100 other golfers for the top prize. Goodell also crushed the 14th hole, the longest drive contest, with a 450 yard missile.

Many of the sport’s owners and trainers were on hand to enjoy a beautiful day on the links. Upon registration, the golfers who participated were all treated to lunch, Greg Norman golf shirts, individual coolers filled with refreshments, hats, and many other giveaways.

Following the golf, all the players were served a delicious prime rib dinner while the golf trophies and substantial door prizes were awarded. Boasting over $5,000 worth of goods and services, the door prizes included a 50” plasma television. Always a hit with the crowd, MC John Manzi ensured that all in attendance were lightheartedly entertained.

Organized by Historic Track treasurer Frank Baldassare, the event raised substantial funds for The World’s Oldest Harness Track. Excited and visibly pleased over the turnout and success for this year’s event, Frank “The Hands” reminded all in attendance that, “next year’s outing will help kick off the Grand Circuit festivities with golf slated for Monday, June 27, 2011.”
