C. Earl Stannard, 80, dies

Columbus, OH — C. Earl Stannard, 80, died May 13, 2010.

Mr. Stannard was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Taylors Falls, Minn., to Conway K and Ruth (Rasmussen) Stannard. He served five years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was an avid horseman, owning, training and driving Standardbreds. He raced horses for Curly Smart at nearby fairs and during the mid-1970s was the leading driver at Northfield Park.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Erma Jean (Fleming); daughters, Rhonda, Ruth Ann (Mark Tscherney) and Robin (Ron) Lilley; son, Scott; brother, George (Jean); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Newell; and sister-in-law, Eldora.
