Enough Talk draws rail in Su Mac Lad Final

by Paul Ramlow, USTA Internet News Manager

Columbus, OH — For the second consecutive week, Enough Talk has drawn the rail and Lucky Jim the seven post. This time the stakes are a little higher as a $125,000 purse is on the line in Friday’s Su Mac Lad Final at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Last Friday in the $50,000 second leg of the free for all trotting series, Enough Talk protected the rail and led every step of the 1:52.4 mile to edge Lucky Jim by a neck and snap the defending Dan Patch Award winner’s 16-race winning streak at The Big M.

In the opening round of the Su Mac Lad on April 2 it was Lucky Jim who got the better of the photo finish, stopping Enough Talk by a head in a time of 1:52.1.

Enough Talk, owned by P Kleinhans Racing and Jerry Silva, and trained by Peter Kleinhans, was the Dan Patch Award winner as Older Trotting Horse of the Year in 2008. He is the fastest trotter in the history of the sport, thanks to his 1:49.3z score at Colonial Downs. The 7-year-old Enjoy Lavec-Fashion Setter gelding has 29 lifetime wins and earnings of $1,218,751. Regular driver Ron Pierce will be in the bike on Friday.

Lucky Jim won 17 of 18 races during his remarkable campaign last year. Owned by David and John Prushnok and William Gregg, the 5-year-old S J’s Photo-Hawaiian Sierra gelding is trained by Julie Miller and driven by Andy Miller. He has 21 career victories to his credit, with $1,226,821 in his purse account.

Seven horses will take to the track in Friday night’s fifth race at Meadowlands Racetrack. Below is the full field.
