Wilkes-Barre, PA — In preparation for the start of the 2010 harness racing season at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, the first qualifying races will be conducted Thursday (March 11) at the five-eighths-mile racetrack.

Saul Needle, director of racing, and his staff have put together a morning qualifying card of 10 races. Post time is 10 a.m.

Following Thursday’s qualifiers, additional ones will be held on Tuesday, March 16, and Thursday, March 18. After that all qualifiers will be scheduled for Thursday mornings at 10 a.m.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will open its live racing season on Tuesday night, March 23, with a 6:30 p.m. post. Racing will be conducted four days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights with the 6:30 post.

However, after May 31, Monday nights will be added with Friday evening cards eliminated during the months of June, July and August. The 2010 season runs through November 13.
