Somebeachsomewhere foal born

Columbus, OH — One of the first foals by Somebeachsomewhere is on the ground, according to reports from Steiner Stock Farm.

The filly, by Somebeachsomewhere-Desirable Cindy, was foaled on Jan. 19.

On Tuesday night (Jan. 19), the Real Desire mare, Desirable Cindy, foaled a filly by the 2008 Horse of the Year at the breeding facility located in Lima, Ohio. The filly is the first foal out of Desirable Cindy p,3,1:52.3 ($171,664), a half sister to Jenna’s Beach Boy.

“She’s a really nice filly,” said farm manager Wade Morris. “She was up within an hour and looking for some groceries.”

During his racing career, Somebeachsomewhere won 20 of 21 starts, including the Breeders Crown, North America Cup, Metro Pace, Messenger, Confederation Cup and Tattersalls Pace. His mark of 1:46.4, set in the Bluegrass Stakes at The Red Mile, stands as the fastest race mile in history. His $2,448,003 in 3-year-old earnings is a seasonal record for pacers.

Somebeachsomewhere retired from racing with $3,221,299 in purse earnings to Hanover Shoe Farms in Pennsylvania, where he bred 160 mares in 2009.
