Sears fillies look to continue Blossom dominance

by Joe Hartmann, for Florida Harness Racing

Pompano Beach, FL — A pair of Florida-bred freshman pacing fillies out of the strong stable of Kim and Jay Sears, headlined by Sunshine State Stakes champion Black Diamond Girl, will go to the gate Friday night (Oct. 23) in the second leg of the Orange Blossom Pacing Series at the Isle of Capri at Pompano Park.

Black Diamond Girl, a 2-year-old daughter of Six Of Diamonds, out of the Raging Glory mare Money Munchkin, scored an upset win over favorites Help Me Howard and Isle Of View Too in a lifetime best 1:57.2. Owned by Jay Sears and Penny and William Kelly, Black Diamond Girl is trained by Kim Sears and will be driven in a non-wagering event with a 6:25 p.m. post.

In the second division, the Sears’ Diamond Chip will look for her second straight win with driver Bruce Ranger.

Harness racing is currently being contested at Pompano Park on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights with a 7:05 p.m. post time.
