Maryland Sire Stakes finals set for Saturday

Ft. Washington, MD — Rosecroft Raceway will host eight $25,000 Maryland Sire Stakes finals this Saturday, August 1, at 12 Noon.

Once again Rosecroft will offer in-house wagering on the Sire Stake Finals. Saturday will be the second of six days of racing offered at Rosecroft in 2009.

Qualifiers will also be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per horse. The entry box closes Thursday at 10 a.m.

This past Saturday (July 25), Rosecroft played host to preliminaries for the Maryland Sire Stakes for both 2- and 3-year-olds. Master Chad was the fastest of the day (1:53.2) and both Jim Morand and Tony Morgan recorded driving doubles.

In the 2-year-old division winners included:

Colt Pace -– Southern Allie (Chuck Perry Jr.) — 1:56.1
Filly Pace — FD Exotic Lisa (Tony Morgan) — 2:00
Colt Trot — Tough Challenger (Jim Morand) — 2:04.3
Filly Trot — Sound The Belle (Corey Callahan) — 2:06.1

In the 3-year-old division winners included:

Colt Pace — Master Chad (Eddie Dennis) — 1:53.2
Colt Pace — Cedar Hall Master (Kim Vincent) — 1:54.2
Filly Pace — I Love The Beach (Jim Morand) — 1:57.4
Filly Pace — Remastered (Tony Morgan) — 1:55.4
Colt Trot — Vinegar Hill (Frank Milby) — 2:02.2
Filly Trot — Slick N Splashy (Roger Plante, Jr.) — 2:02.4
