Plainridge assists horsemen after cancellation

by Jack Ginnetti

Marlborough, MA — It’s always pleasant to learn about a nice gesture. And one came about last Thursday (March 19) at Plainridge Racecourse after the race card had to be canceled.

The 4:00 p.m. call to post never took place because slick track conditions made it impossible for the starting car to maneuver safely over the race track.

When you have horsemen trucking in, as well as those horses stabled, a cancellation obviously creates a big expense and disappointment.

But track President Gary Piontkowski did his best to ease some of the disappointment by distributing gas cards and food vouchers to horsemen.
