Toronto, ON — The Baillargeon Express continued to roll along on Monday night (Jan. 26) at Woodbine Racetrack with the combination of brothers Mario and Ben taking two of the three divisions in the opening leg of the Don Mills Trotting Series for 4-year-olds.

The tandem clicked first with Afternoon Dreams, who ran her unbeaten streak to five in the second C$25,000 split in 1:55.1 — the fastest of the three divisions.

The daughter of Dream Vacation-Form Fitting, who was the lone mare in the field, made a three-wide move to command just past the half and then cruised to a 4-1/4 length tally over John Pauls Legacy with Dillavec finishing third.

It was Afternoon Dreams’ 16th career win in 20 starts for owners Sylvia Burke and Randy Ringer.

Stablemate Ziegler Hanover won his fourth in a row with a 1:57.3 effort in the third and final division. The son of Andover Hall-Xqsmwa swept from off-the-pace to prevail over Andovers Son and Sand Top Gun.

The other division went to Sand Wyndham and driver Paul MacDonell in 1:56.4. The son of Pegasus Spur-Sand Chic won in gate-to-wire fashion over Ocean Mist Dynasty and Celebrity Shark.

It was the first win in two tries this season for the Ben Wallace trainee who is owned by Bill Sanders.

The Don Mills Trotting Series will continue with second round action next Monday (Feb. 2) at Woodbine.
