Toronto, ON — Gerries Madison used her patented off-the-pace style in winning Monday’s (March 24) C$49,000 Silver Reign Pacing Series Final at Woodbine Racetrack and, in the process, completed the series sweep.

It was the fourth consecutive win and the second straight series victory for Gerries Madison who also captured the Miss Vera Bars Final on February 14.

Gerries Madison was a 1:54.2 winner in the Silver Reign Series Final on Monday.

On Monday night, Rick Zeron got the 3-year-old daughter of Apaches Fame-Peaceful Protest away sixth in the field as Speed McQueen sped off the wings from post two and put up the first fraction in :27.2.

The pacesetter continued to roll along up front, putting up an opening half in :56.2. At that point, Serious Camotion had made a move out from fourth and quickly brushed to the front as the field entered the final turn. Meanwhile, Gerries Madison also made a move to the outside but encountered stalled cover that kept her mired in that position.

Serious Camotion, driven by Mike Saftic, went for broke with a :27.3 third quarter and took the field past three-quarters in 1:24. She took a 1-1/2 length advantage into the stretch with Gerries Madison moving three-wide up into third position.

The fast third quarter took its toll on Serious Camotion, who began to tire and fell easy prey to the surging Gerries Madison, who went on to win by three lengths at the finish in 1:54.2. Serious Camotion held on bravely for second with Speed McQueen lasting for the show spot.

The victory for the Clark Beelby trainee was the fifth in just seven starts this season and the lion’s share of the purse boosted her career bankroll to $125,251 for owner Gerrie Tucker of Montreal, Quebec.
