Toronto, ON — Two geldings have won both of their divisions of the General Brock Trotting Series preliminary legs. On Thursday night (March 6) at Woodbine, they’ll lock horns in the C$49,600 series final — but only one can make it a series sweep.

The contenders are Windsun Lane, conditioned, co-owned, and driven by Rick Zeron and rated 7-5 in the morning line, and Enny Youngman, trained by Ben Baillargeon and driven by brother Mario. He is the handicapping second choice at 2-1.

Windsun Lane is indisputably on a hot streak. The son of Lindy Lane has won eight of his last 11 starts and has been no worse than third in the other three. But Enny Youngman’s recent record is nothing to sneeze at, either. The offspring of Enjoy Lavec has racked up four wins and three seconds in his last seven starts, and set a new lifetime mark of 1:55.1 in the General Brock opener on February 21.

“He’s been doing everything we’ve asked for,” says Mario Baillargeon of Enny Youngman. “We were impressed with him last week, the way he won out of the 10 hole. He’s been getting good trips, but he’s also a very, very handy horse. He gets out of the gate like a pacer. That quickness behind the gate is his main asset.

“I think he’s as good as any horse in there,” he adds. “He was second to Windsun Lane in the Don Mills final, but I think he can beat him. He’s getting more mature and his confidence is way up right now.”

The duel for the General Brock Series final is race eight on Thursday, March 6. Post time is 9:43 p.m.
