Dover, DE — Full Of Elegance gave Tim Tetrick one of his six wins in the $16,500 4- and 5-year-old pace in chilly and blustery 19-degree weather, the coldest night of the meet, Sunday, Jan. 20, at Dover Downs.

In the feature race, Full Of Elegance made a three-wide move at the three-quarters and finally wore down battling leaders Hicktown (Corey Callahan), second, and Giddy Up N Giggle (Tony Morgan), third, in the final stride to win a three-horse nose photo in 1:53.2. Full Of Elegance, a 4-year-old Full Of Fun gelding is owned by Joel and Diane Halpern. It was the sixth win for Tetrick and third for trainer John Cabot on the card.

In a $10,800 4- and 5-year-old male pace, Kevin Sizer kept Gary and Barbara Iles’ homebred Who’s Next alive in deep stretch to hold off fast finishing Map Quest (Eddie Davis, Jr.) for a 1:55.4 victory. Bedegrayne Hanover (Roger Plante) was third.

After winning six races on Saturday, Tony Morgan added three wins Sunday to increase his 2008 first place total to 54 wins.

Up Front Jerry returns to $35,000 Preferred Pace on Monday

Up Front Jerry returns to the $35,000 Preferred handicap feature on Monday, Jan. 21, for the Dr. Martin Luther King day headliner at Dover Downs. A $32,500 Delaware Special and a $26,000 Open are also on the hard-hitting program. First post is 4:30 p.m.

Following an unsuccessful trip to the Presidential Series at the Meadowlands a week ago, Sylvia Burke, Weaver Bruscemi and John Chiovetta’s Up Front Jerry, winner of this event two weeks ago, has outside post seven with Yannick Gingras in the bike. To his left is Summersby Stable’s Lucky NZ and Ron Pierce, a winner by a nose last Monday, beating Prince Of Luck and Brandon Givens, driving for Bonnie Allen and Brenda Harper. Tim Tetrick and Gary Minner and Peter Richardson’s Sharky Osborne cut out that mile, but faltered slightly enough to finish fourth in a blanket photo, beaten a neck.

Kovach Stables’ Art Director, handled by Brian Sears; Boy Oh Boy Stable’s Dream Rocket, from the rail with the sport’s leading driver Tony Morgan; and Glass Pack, the only 4-year-old in the lineup, owned by Lou Schaefer and Peter Heffering, piloted by Eric Goodell, round out the field.

Klondike Kid notched his second straight win last Monday, stepping up to the $32,500 Delaware Special when Eric Goodell steered the Michigan-bred gray to a 1:53.1 win for Fred Hertrich, Brooks Stables and Green Racing Inc. Another son of a Michigan stallion, Thin Blue Line, owned by Paul McDougall and WH McDougall Racing, finished second with Ross Wolfenden driving. Teague Inc.’s Mr Apples and Jim Morand was third.

Wardog Hall, guided by Brian Sears, just missed by a neck last week. Beware Beret and Ron Pierce has been racing well, and the pair of starters have posts one and two, respectively. Tony Morgan is teamed with Arty Foster, Jr.’s Village Blitz and has outside post seven, while Carter Racing and trainer Bobby Myers’ Victor Vuitton N, with Tim Tetrick, has been in top form of late.

The $26,000 Open is an eight-horse affair. Fox Valley Armor, trained by the sport’s leading trainer in 2006 and 2007, Mickey Burke, led until the final stride last week for Yannick Gingras, but had to settle for second. Quality Western finished third with Brian Sears driving for Iannacone, Giamarino, TLP and D’Elegance IX Stables.

The other contenders are Jack Davis’ Hot Leather and Corey Callahan; Tim Tetrick driving Bill Emmons’ Mattazuma; Bullion Bill A, reined by Vic Kirby for Irv Bork and trainer Erika Paradee; Patchel Family Stable’s Home Run Hudson from the rail with Eric Goodell; Marchand, racing for Joe Scala and Boy Oh Boy Stable with Ross Wolfenden in the bike; and Albert Hanna’s Jordan’s Planet, from post eight with Ron Pierce.
