Wilkes-Barre, PA — All About Justice posted the day’s fastest time among three divisions of the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Tuesday afternoon, September 11. The gelding came home a winner in 1:55.4.

Tuesday’s stakes at Pocono were for 3-year-old colts and geldings on the trot, and they represented the last chance for the trotters to earn enough points to qualify for the Pennsylvania Championship finals on Saturday, September 29.

In his division, All About Justice pounced on tiring pacesetter Wild Wind on the backstretch and romped from there on out with Tim Tetrick in the bike. The time was especially impressive because it was achieved in sloppy conditions. Springboard finished second and Wild Wind held on for the show.

Joe Scorsone of Crosswicks, N.J., trains All About Justice and is the co-owner with John Furfaro of Hillsborough, N.J. The 3-year-old, who was the 6-5 favorite, now has two wins and two places in four career starts, all this year.

Up Front Ben earned his second Sires Stakes win in as many weeks with a front-running win. The colt, owned by C. Ed Mullinax of Amherst, Ohio, and trained by Noel Daley, took over the lead shortly after the quarter pole and had no problems from there on out, winning in 1:57.1 to follow his win in 1:57 last week at Chester. Eric Goodell did the driving aboard the 4-5 favorite. Windsun Lane picked up second with Huckster in third.

Monkey Bones, a 2-1 second choice, parlayed a pocket trip into a Sires Stakes win in the remaining division. Driver Steve Smith worked out the trip for Monkey Bones behind surprising leader Light Headed, and used the passing lane to get up in 1:56.4. Karen Garland trains the colt for R. Gary Stetson of Deerfield, Mass. Swanderful got the place and Light Headed hung on for third, while 6-5 favorite Edgestone Hanover finished sixth after a break of stride on the backstretch.
