Marlborough, MA — Richard ‘Dick’ Johnson, curator for the Boston Sports Museum at the TDBanknorth Garden, will be among the principle speakers at the New England Harness Writers October 12th awards program.

Johnson has been curator at the museum since 1982 and is currently working with chapter vice president Robert Temple on establishing a permanent museum display deplicting the ‘History of New England Harness Racing.’

Those attending the writers’ 29th Hall of Fame awards presentation at the Downs Club Restaurant in Scarborough, Maine, are urged to bring donated items with them for placement in the museum.

Besides arranging numerous special events and exhibits, Johnson has authored and co-authored nine books ranging from the Boston Braves, the Red Sox, a century of Boston Sports, and marathoner Johnny Kelley.

“The New England chapter of the United States Harness Writers’ Association is grateful for Dick’s assistance in making this display possible,” noted Temple. “It will publicize harness racing and its great New England tradition to the thousands of people who are part of it.”

Johnson resides in Braintree, Mass., with his wife, son and daughter.
