Pompano Beach, FL — Ciara Stable and Michael Polansky’s undefeated juvenile filly Alice Springs will look to maintain supremacy over the Florida-bred 2-year-old female pacing division when starting in Friday’s (August 3) $36,775 Florida Stallion Stakes at Pompano Park.

Alice Springs exits a powerful performance in the second leg of the Sunshine State Stakes where the Tom Harmer trainee scored by nearly six lengths in a lifetime best of 1:56.2.

Earlier in the season, the daughter of first-crop sire N Aboriginal swept through the Seminole Series for 2-year-old filly pacers, culminating with a victory in the $21,150 final where she stopped the clock in 1:56.3.

Alice Springs has drawn post five and will be driven by Wally Hennessey. Allee T and Bilmar Diva, who have finished second and third, respectively, in all four of Alice Springs’ victories, also return for Friday’s feature. The race is scheduled as the first of two non-wagering events on the program, with a post time of 6:55 p.m.

Leavembehind, a six-time winner in 2006 that has tallied three victories from four starts this season, headlines the first division of the $14,150 Hurricane Pacing Series for Florida-bred sophomore fillies, which will go as the second non-wagering event of the evening.

Owned by Rod Lorenzo, Ciro Gentile, Gerrie Tucker, and Al Solomon, Leavembehind scored in a lifetime best 1:54.4 when taking a first leg division of the Sunshine State Stakes on July 20. The filly has since returned with a winning mile in 1:57.1 when capturing leg two over a sloppy track on July 27.

Wally Hennessey will be at the controls of the daughter of Mean Mr Mustard, who starts from post four for trainer Michile Lorenzo.

The second division of the $14,150 Hurricane Pacing Series for sophomore fillies will go as the third race on the pari-mutuel program, and will feature Sunshine Cindy, a Gordon Norris-trained daughter of Ludicrous who failed to hit the board in six starts last year, but has visited the winner’s circle in three of her four outings this season.

Owned by Roland Cole, Sunshine Cindy prevailed in both legs of the Sunshine State Stakes, pacing a winning mile in 1:58 to take a first leg division on July 20, before returning one week later to score by six lengths in a career best 1:56.2.

Sunshine Cindy has been installed as the 7-5 morning line favorite and will start from post four with Brad Hanners at the controls.
