Field set for Ten Grand Final at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — A field of nine $10,000 claiming pacers are set for Saturday (April 21) afternoon’s Ten Grand late closer final at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The race will have a total purse of $30,200.

Horses accumulated points from the running of the first three legs of the series.

Those making the finals with posts for Saturday’s finale are 1. Besmo, 2. Go For Diamonds N, 3. Armbro Anthony, 4. T Tex, 5. Annabelle Lou, 6. Energetic View, 7. Ed’s Western, 8. Taco Hanover and 9. Master Of Fools.

T Rex, scheduled to be driven by Tim Tetrick, has won two straight in the series after producing a second in the first leg.

Meanwhile, Besmo, with Joe Pavia, Jr. in the sulky, also has two wins and a second. Besmo’s 1:53.4 win on March 21 with Pavia driving is the fastest of the winners in those three previous legs.

Tex Rex’s win on April 14 came with a clocking of 1:54, closing in :27. On the year, T Rex, trained by Carmine Fusco, has produced seven wins in 13 starts, while Besmo has three victories in 12 starts. Robert Lounsbury trains Besmo.

Go For Diamonds (Eric Goodell) comes into the race with six wins in 11 starts this year.

Greg Merton and Ed’s Western won a third leg of the series for $10,000 claimers or less from 11-01-06 through 2-28-07. Time of this mile was 1:54.4. John Sherota trains this 10-year-old gelding pacer.
