Pompano Beach, FL — Five return winners are scheduled to meet in the $4,700 Valentine’s Day trotting feature at Pompano Park, scheduled as the fourth event on the 10-race Wednesday (Feb. 14) program.

Angelo Kosmos, who enters the Valentine’s Day feature on a two-race winning streak, has drawn the rail for Wednesday’s race and is listed at 9-2 in the morning line. Trained by Gary Lewis, the 5-year-old son of S J’s Photo got up in the final yards to prevail in his last start, trotting the mile in 1:58.2 for driver Marc Aubin, who will be at the lines again on Wednesday.

Two starts ago, Angelo Kosmos crossed the wire second when beaten a neck in a similar $4,700 trot, but was placed first when Fimo, who also returns for Wednesday’s feature, was disqualified for gaining an unfair advantage when trotting inside the pylons.

Installed as the 7-2 second choice in the morning line, Stormont Duvet was an easy winner in his last start, prevailing by 2-3/4 lengths on Feb. 7 in 1:58.4. The 6-year-old gelded son of Balanced Image is trained by Don Brainard and will be driven from post six by Pompano Park’s leading driver Bruce Ranger.

Excalibur MC has drawn post nine for the Valentine’s Day featured trot for driver/trainer Mel Turcotte. In his most recent appearance, the Florida-bred son of Basil scored a front-end victory at Pompano, covering the mile in 1:58.4 to set a new lifetime mark.

Cole Man, a three-quarter length winner in 2:00.4 on Feb. 9, and Giambi, who prevailed by a neck in 1:59.2 in his last start, will also line up for the Wednesday feature.

Ground Force, the 5-2 morning line favorite for the Wednesday feature, was trotting on a 1-1/2 length lead in his last start when he made a break at the top of the stretch, finishing eighth. The son of Malabar Man will be driven by Brett Miller for trainer Bill Gallagher.
