FT. WASHINGTON, MD — Realistic Ability [$30.20, $3.00, $2.40], the 9-5 morning line choice, left the gate at 14-1 odds and paced wire-to-wire in the $7,400 Winners Over event for mares at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday.

The four-year-old Real Artist mare, owned by the Offutts and Genhi Whitmer, cut fractions of 27.3, 56.1 and 1:24.3, topping Cams Little Imp N [$2.80, 2.10] by a nose in 1:54.3. Driven to victory by Chris Offutt, Realistic Ability earned her second win of the year from six starts and upped her lifetime earnings to nearly $93,000. She hails from the training barn of Joe Offutt.

Cams Little Imp N, driven by Donnie Russell, went off as the overwhelming favorite. The nine-year-old daughter of Camtastic was shuffled back along the rail and had to pace three wide with a closing quarter of 29.4. Trained by Wayne Whitson, Jr., Cams Little Imp N was victorious in the Winners Over class two starts back in 1:55.4. She is owned by Lester Walls and Jack Upchurch.

Nuclear Folks [$2.60] completed the $71.80 trifecta. Racing for owner Tom Cooke and trainer Roger Hans, the seven-year-old Nuclear High mare left the gate from the rail and got a solid pocket trip from Jonathan Roberts. Nuclear Folks paced up the passing lane to finish three-quarters of a length behind the winner.

Live racing is set for Monday evening at Rosecroft, and post time is 5:35 p.m.

The $7,400 Winners Over trot is scheduled for the 6th race on Monday, and Shark Kosmos is set to open on the board as the 3-1 early choice from post five.

The eight-year-old SJ’s Photo stallion, owned by Vicki Lynn Fair and trainer-driver Roger Hammer, has been a top competitor in this class. However, last week the horse was parked out through the early fractions of the mile and failed to contend in the stretch. Shark Kosmos currently has a yearly mark of 1:58.2 and over $439,000 in lifetime earnings.

Play Time, owned by Tom Cooke, is the 7-2 second choice from post position four. The five-year-old gelded son of Donerail was fifth in last week’s edition of the trot, but has been a sharp contender. Trained by Roger Hans, Play Time has a line of 4-2-1 across the board from eight yearly starts. Jonathan Roberts will again drive the gelding.

The remainder of the field is just as competitive – Keystone Maxwell (Jackie MacLeod, 10-1), Bud Ross (John Wagner, 8-1), Psycho Hall (Donnie Russell, 8-1), Duya Kid (Corey Braden, 5-1), Jim’s Message (Mark Gray, 6-1) and Miss Fairfax (Kevin Welty, 5-1) round out the contestants.
