Ft. Washington, MD — Two divisions of the Maryland Sires Stakes for two-year-old trotters are carded on Friday evening at Rosecroft Raceway.

The event for fillies is a non-wagering, early race due to the limited number of entries. Contesting the race are Leon Harris’s Go Go Girl and Donnie and Nancy Drewer’s Mandas Mistyclover.

Go Go Girl, trained by Leon Harris and driven by Jewett Pumphrey, made her last start on July 22 in the first leg of the Sires Stakes at Rosecroft. She finished second behind Mandas Mistyclover with a final time of 2:10.3. The daughter of Go Get Lost will start from the rail position.

Mandas Mistyclover most recently tried her luck at Ocean Downs in the Standardbred Race Fund, but suffered an unfortunate break immediately after the start. Prior to that race, the Dedicated Yankee filly won the first division of the Sires Stakes at Rosecroft, earning $1,950. She will start from post two with driver John Littleton, Jr.

Post time for the early event is scheduled for 6:55 p.m.

The freshman colts and geldings highlight the first pari-mutuel race of the evening. The 8-5 choice is Bill Clark, Jr.’s Honolulu Hunk, who easily beat this field in the first division by over 10 lengths. Trainer-driver Jerry Nock will rein the Program Speed colt from post five in the field of eight.

Second choice, at 5-2 odds, is Bill Long’s Onstar K. This gelded son of Go Get Lost finished second against Honolulu Hunk on July 22 as the favorite. Bill Long will be in the sulky once again, and the pair will leave from post six.

The Syl King, Jr. owner entry of Misty Moonlight and A Century Later make up the morning line third choice at 5-1 odds. Both geldings, trained by Syl King, Jr., are sired by Go Get Lost. Misty Moonlight, with Syl King, Jr. in the sulky, is set to leave from the rail, and A Century Later drew post eight for driver Corey Braden.

Rounding out the very competitive field are Fire Step (Kelly Staten, 8-1), Speed Sweeper (John Wagner, 8-1), Juice On The Loose (Jewett Pumphrey, 10-1) and Sonofafrica (Joe Offutt, 12-1).

Post time for Rosecroft’s 16 race card is set for 7:20 p.m. on Friday.
