Artbitration takes Cape & Cutter division

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – February 11, 2005 – Artbitration [$10.00, $3.00, $2.80] burst through an opening late in the lane to win the fifth race $35,000 Cape & Cutter Series division on Friday night at the Meadowlands.

The Cape & Cutter victory was the first in four starts this season for four-year-old Artbitration.

Driven by Patrick Berry, Artbitration set a new mark of 1:52 as she held off the late rally of Loyal Opposition [$2.40, $2.40] to win the event for open pacing mares. Loyal Opposition, who was making her 2005 debut, was sent off as the 3-5 favorite in the field and came off a second-over trip to finish three-quarters of a length behind the winner.

Odds On Charmaine [$5.00], who was parked out most of the mile, held on for third.

The Cape & Cutter victory was the first in four starts this season for four-year-old Artbitration. Norm Parker trains and co-owns the mare with Thomas Klosky of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Artbitration has won 13 of her 30 career starts and earned $403,683.
