Paul MacDonell had the hot hand on Tuesday at Woodbine, making five trips to the winner’s circle.

Toronto, ON — On a night to forget about weather-wise, driver Paul MacDonell lit up the Woodbine horizon on Tuesday, bagging five of the 10 dashes that the evening offered.

With no less than five seconds allowed by the judges due to intense wind and a track fully deserving its “sloppy” rating, MacDonell, a resident of Guelph, Ontario, torched the Woodbine strip.

Having only eight mounts on the night, MacDonell got the ball rolling in the evening’s third race, as he brought Wynnfield Scamp ($12.90), a two-year-old Run The Table pacer, home in 1:57.4.

Notching four straight in races seven through 10, MacDonell dominated the late stages of the program.

At odds of 10-1 in the seventh dash of the evening, MacDonell brought home Dr Pete ($22.90), a four-year-old Rustler Hanover pacer, in 1:56.3. In the eighth contest, he scored with the eight-year-old Balanced Image trotter Mon Reve, in 2:02.2. He recorded a natural hat trick with a win in the ninth race while aboard the three-year-old Apaches Fame pacer Apache Limo ($3.80) in 1:56.2. MacDonell’s final win came in the 10th race after guiding Walter Henry ($25.80), a three-year-old Reality Check pacer, home in 1:59.2 at odds of 11-1.

Still no Pick 7 winner

The Pick 7 again failed to be selected in its entirety on Tuesday and a whopping carryover of $319,873.77 will now greet the Woodbine crowd on Thursday evening.

Anyone who correctly picked six of the seven winners on Tuesday’s Pick 7 collected $3,362.05.

The winning numbers on Thursday were 7, 6, 6, 2, 4, 6 and 6. The correct horses were as follows: Wynnfield Scamp ($12.90), Better By Design ($10.70), Jiffies Star ($14.50), Orbit ($9.80), Dr Pete ($22.90), Mon Reve ($18.10) and Apache Limo ($3.80).

The Pick 7 requires bettors to correctly select the winners of races three through nine. If there are no winning tickets, 25% of the net pool is paid out to the ticket holder(s) with the most correct winners, and the balance is then carried over to begin the next day’s Pick 7.
