Bouchard wins five at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY — The most feared slugger Tuesday night (October 26) did his damage neither for the Red Sox nor the Redbirds. Rather, the red-hot Stephane Bouchard won half of the 10 races at Yonkers Raceway.

Bouchard, who entered the evening ranked seventh in the 2004 North American dash standings with 476 victories, began his night finishing second in the evening’s first race.

His first win came in the second race, behind the three-year-old pacing filly Feminine Ways (1:59.1). Mark Ford trained the victress ($2.80) for owner Frank Dettore.

After his charge wound up third in the night’s third race, Bouchard won the fourth race with the pocket-sitting Amano N (1:59). The four-year-old Down Under gelding put forth a lifetime best 1:59 for his $4.40 win mutuel.

Bouchard’s charges settled for fifth in both the fifth and sixth races before Mac’s Ms Victory ($9.80) stuck her nose out on the money in the seventh race trot. Tim Case trained the lass (season’s best 2:01.2) for owner Lawrence Kittenplan.

After his Panic Value was overtaken in the lane in the eighth race, Bouchard then disposed of the $15.40 late daily double with the statebred trotter Bannockburn ($5.20) and the pacing mare Tussy Mussy ($5.50).

The former, trained by Ettore Annunziata for owner Richard Annunziata, went the distance in 2:00.2. The latter, sent out by Case for owner Alvin Jacobson, rolled off cover to prevail in 1:58.4.
