Six Of Diamonds sets Rockingham record

SALEM, NH — Six of Diamonds set a new track record for horses of all ages, gaits and sex and he also tied the New England record when he paced the mile in a blistering 1:49.3 on a fast track at Rockingham Park on Saturday.
Trained by Francis McCahey for owners Stuart and Barbara Oppenheimer and Arthur Oppenheimer, the five-year-old-son of Artsplace and the Big Towner mare Two Times Three broke the record of 1.50 established two Saturdays ago on August 14 by four-year-old Artesian in the eliminations for the $100,000 New Hampshire Sweepstakes.The effort was his second record-setting perfomance at Rockingham this season as on July 3, Six of Diamonds became the track’s fastest aged pacing stallion when he tripped the teletimer in 1:50.2.
When Six of Diamonds took almost one full second off his earlier record while winning the featured $10,000 pace for winners of over $10,000 lifetime, he was driven by Bruce Ranger.The meet’s leading driver kept his winning streak alive by posing for winner’s circle photos three times on the afternoon to boost his season total to 196 victories.
In the first of 11 races on the card, Ranger partnered with Try Kacy N as the 13-year-old pacer won his seventh consecutive race in 1:54. In his last start here one week ago, Try Kacy N set a world record for a pacer his age when he finished in 1:51.4.
Live racing continues on Sunday, post time 1:05 p.m., and every paid admission will be treated to a can coozie created in driver David Ingraham’s colors. Due to the celebration of the four-day Labor Day Holiday weekend, there will be no live racing on Wednesday, September 1st but the track will present a full card on Monday, September 6th.
On Saturday, September 4th, Rockingham will present the inaugural $50,000 Joseph Carney Memorial Trot and on Sunday, September 5th the track will card three Thoroughbred races on the turf in addition to eight harness races.
