by Jim Moran, publicity director, Vernon Downs

Vernon, NY — Tatt In A Hat found racing room in deep stretch to capture Thursday night’s $2,700 feature for female pacers at Vernon Downs.

With David Fisher driving for trainer Howard Beal, Tatt In A Hat skimmed the pylons from third in the final sixteenth of the mile to defeat the tiring leader Missy Doats by three-quarters of a length. The time of the race was 1:571.

The win was the second in seven season’s starts for the five-year-old mare, who is shared in ownership by Beal and his partner Anthony Aiello. The fast-closing tally raised her lifetime earnings to more than $22,000.

Vernon’s next live harness program will be Friday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m.
