by Steve Wolf, Director of Marketing, Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, Florida – February 25, 2004 – Luckyisasluckydoes has been installed as the 8/5 favorite in Saturday’s $162,000 final of the 6th annual Isle of Capri Pacing Series at Pompano Park. The $80,000 final of the Mack Lobell Trotting Series and the $50,000 Red Bow Tie Invitational Pace for Florida-breds also highlights the Saturday program.

The 9th race Isle Pace feature is so competitive that the longest shot on the board in the morning line, Quality Of Life from post nine, is only at odds of 12-1.

Luckyisasluckydoes drew post three for the final and the Mark Harder trained five-year-old gelding by Camluck will again be driven by Bruce Ranger. Luckyisasluckydoes is the only horse to have won both preliminary legs in the series with impressive 1:51 and 1:51.3 victories for owners John Fodera, Clifford Siegel and Herbert Siegel of New York.

Hipeka A drew the rail and is the 3-1 second choice in the race. After winning in the opening round, the George Napolitano, Jr. trained and driven Australian import was second to Luckyisasluckydoes last week.

Third choice at odds of 4-1 is Image of Dawn, who is trained and for the final will be driven by Patrick Lachance. Starting from post four, Image Of Dawn was fifth last week to Luckyisasluckydoes but the week before was a game second to Hipeka A in 1:52.1.

Track Notes: The purse for the Isle of Capri ties the 2002 purse as the richest in the series at $162,000. The Mack Lobell purse at $80,000 is the richest in event history. Peter Wrenn and Corporate Rrraider have the chance to become the only trainer/driver and horse to have won the Isle of Capri twice. They won it last year in 1:51. Rain throughout the day and night made for a sloppy track at Pompano Park but that did not hinder Boo’s Boy and trainer/driver Roman Lopez from scoring a neck victory in the 2nd race maiden pace. Boo’s Boy covered the mile in 1:59.2 in his pari-mutuel debut and paid $9.40 to win. The three-year-old gelding by Cambest is owned by former University of Kentucky and New Jersey Net’s basketball star Sam Bowie of Lexington, Kentucky.
