Freehold cancels Labor Day card due to lack of entries

by Freehold Raceway

Freehold, NJ — Freehold Raceway announced today that live racing scheduled for Monday (Sept. 3), Labor Day, has been cancelled due to lack of entries.

According to Freehold General Manager Howard Bruno, “With racing scheduled for Friday and Saturday, there weren’t enough horses to support the additional day.

“Overall, it is increasingly difficult for us to compete in a market where we have the lowest purse structure in the region.”

Racing will go on as scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays for the remainder of the summer/fall meet with post time at 12:30 p.m.
