Dreamsteeler gets front-end score in Meadows feature; Palone wins five

by Evan Pattak, for The Meadows

Washington, PA — Dreamsteeler, who hadn’t been on the lead at any call in her last six starts, zipped to the front for Tony Hall from post seven and thwarted a pair of challengers en route to victory in Wednesday’s (Aug. 29) $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Dreamsteeler won the featured event at The Meadows in 1:54.2.

Dreamsteeler was confronted outside by her stablemate, Glidinthruparadise, and in the Lightning Lane by the ground-saving You’re Majestic. The 7-year-old daughter of Cash Hall-Dream Street held off You’re Majestic by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.2, with Glidinthruparadise third.

Ed Zubkoff Jr. trains Dreamsteeler, who lifted her career bankroll to $369,648, for Brookside Stables.

Dave Palone piloted five winners, including a pair each for trainers Randy Bendis and Ron Burke, on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Saturday when the card features all four $253,000 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes freshman championships as well as a $50,000 consolation in each division. First post is 1:05 p.m.
