Atta Boy Dan soared over $700,000 in career earnings after returning from what could have been a career ending injury.

Atta Boy Dan was sidelined most of 2017, managing only five starts. But he’s put together a string or recent races without a hiccup and begun to resemble the horse who, in 2015, set the track record of 1:49.1 for older geldings, a mark since matched by Escape The News and Reggiano.

On Saturday, he followed live cover for Mike Wilder and roared through the lane to score in 1:53 over a “good” surface, a neck better than Mister Virgin, with The Dark Shadow third.

Ron Burke trains the 9-year-old son of Western Terror-Dropitlikeitshot, whose bankroll now stands at $705,762, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Wilder collected four wins on the 13-race card while Dave Palone and Burke each enjoyed a triple.
