The Rod Boyd trainee and driver Sylvain Filion came from sixth and third-over to charge by rivals for a 1:53.4 victory.

A deep field of seven was led by Obvious Blue Chip through opening fractions of :28, :57 and 1:25.4. Request For Parole came first-up on the far turn and was followed on the outside by Double A Mint, Kendall Seelster and Darlinonthebeach.

In the stretch, Double A Mint charged by to take the lead briefly before Kendall Seelster overtook the top spot with an eighth-of-a-mile to go. Kendall Seelster stormed home in :27.1 and hit the wire first, defeating a strong Darlinonthebeach, by three-quarters of a length. Double A Mint finished third.

The trifecta of Kendall Seelster, Darlinonthebeach and Double A Mint was the same as last week’s Fillies & Mares Preferred. The $2 Trifecta paid $27 Friday after returning $39.70 a week ago.

A daughter of Shadow Play, Kendall Seelster scored her ninth win of the season and fourth at the Preferred level. Her seasonal earnings increase to C$273,465 with Friday’s score, while her career numbers now sit at an impressive 13 wins and C$737,450 for owners 1187422 Ontario Inc.

Kendall Seelster, who is a strong contender for an O’Brien Award as this season’s top sophomore pacing filly, paid $5.80 to win.
