Bold Eagle wins Prix de Bourgogne

Vincennes, FR — Bold Eagle driven by Franck Nivard won the Prix de Bourgogne at Vincennes today in impressive style.

After two races, where Bold Eagle had been very disappointing, richest French active trotter showed, that he is still on top of his game this afternoon at Vincennes and must be considered as one of the favorites for the upcoming Prix d’Amerique.

In the Prix de Bourgogne raced over 1-5/16 mile Bold Eagle left the gate very fast and Nivard directed him to lead, but soon Björn Goop took favorite Readly Express to the top.

The first quarter went in :27.4, but Goop managed to take much speed out of the race and the following quarter went slower than :30.

Going around the last turn Readly Express still was in command with Carat Williams driven by David Thomain on the outside – Bold Eagle just behind Readly Express – waiting for racing room.

Bold Eagle got racing room, when Cash Gamble driven by Christophe Martens went off stride on the last corner, and Nivard was quick to take his chance.

Bold Eagle finished very strong to win by a length in 1.55.1 (mile rate) followed by Readly Express and Uza Josselyn driven by Alexandre Abrivard.

The three first finishers qualified for the Prix d’Amerique.
