Davis named Terry Holton Youth Award winner

Grove City, OH —– The 2018 Terry Holton Youth Award will be presented to Nathan Davis of West Portsmouth, Ohio, at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Awards Banquet Jan. 19 at Marriott Columbus University Area hotel.

Davis is a first-year engineering student at Shawnee State University with 3.80 grade point average who also worked full time this summer, yet still found time to help run his late grandfather Jerry Hall’s farm.

He has been active in 4-H and he has been involved with horses his entire life. His neighbor, OHHA director Mary Jo Bross, shared that he was often seen helping his grandfather break and train the youngsters.

“Nathan always will pitch in and he is just a phone call away when help is needed,” commented Bross. “He has been an asset to the family’s farm. His grandmother couldn’t run the farm without him.”

Besides breaking youngsters, he is involved in the farm’s breeding program as he selects the best crosses for their broodmares.

Congratulations to Nathan Davis for his hard work. The OHHA appreciates Davis’ service to the industry and is looking forward to seeing his future involvement in Ohio harness racing.
