Spanish gelding Trebol runs winning streak to 41

The 12-year-old Spanish gelding Trebol has won again at the Mediterranean isle, Menorca. This was his 41st victory in a row, equaling the North American pacer Carty Nagle’s record from 1938.

However, the Swedish coldblooded trotter Järvsöfaks has won 42 consecutive races, which is considered a world record for a trotter, so Trebol still has two to go to be the all-time champion at a harness track.

Trebol was born in Menorca and started his career at the tracks in Menorca and Mallorca before he was sent to France, where he developed into a top trotter. In France, he won the Prix de Luxembourg, which is the international event raced the day before the Prix d’Amerique, and twice he won the Finnish Group 1-race, Kymi Grand Prix.

In September 2017 his owner took him back to Spain, and on Sept. 30, 2017, he started his winning streak.

Trebol now races mainly at the Hippodrome Torre del Ram, where a winner in most races gets $100 to win. Last year Trebol raced and won 28 times and earned $4,000.
