Action-Broadway earns initial 2012 win at the Meadows

by Evan Pattak, for the Meadows

Washington, PA — Action-Broadway, the 2011 Trotting Mare of the Year who was off to a slow start this season, notched her first victory of 2012 on Wednesday (May 9) at The Meadows by coming first over to capture the $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot.

Action-Broadway made breaks in her seasonal debut at The Meadows and followed that up with a middling fourth-place finish at Hoosier Park. But the 5-year-old daughter of Broadway Hall-Photo With Molly was sharp Wednesday, moving from fifth for Dave Palone and scoring in 1:55.1. PJ’s Photo rallied for second, a half-length back, while Don’t Blink earned show money.

Virgil Morgan, Jr. trains Action-Broadway, who now boasts $849,752 in career earnings, for Ken Sommer.

Eric Ledford and Brett Miller each drove three winners on the 15-race card.
