Activation takes second straight Meadows series split; Monti wins five

Washington, PA — Activation moved first-over near the three-quarters Thursday (July 6) and rolled to his second straight series victory at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. A pair of maidens, Greenback Session and Kill A Word, took the other $10,000 second-leg splits in the Pop Up Series for freshman colt and gelding trotters.

Activation was third when Anthony MacDonald sent him after the leader, Father’s Secret. The Father Patrick-Repentance gelding moved steadily past to defeat Father’s Secret by a length in 1:59, with My Bar Tab third. Tim Twaddle trains Activation for TheStable Activation Group.

In the other divisions:

• Greenback Session drew off from the field late, overwhelming Honor Guard by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:57.1. First-leg winner Andy B Worthy completed the ticket. Chris Beaver conditions the son of Greenshoe-Ens Tag Session and owns with Bill Manes and Leo Fleming.

• Kill A Word experienced a trip most maidens would abhor — parked out on two separate occasions — but he persevered and triumphed for Kyle Bolon, trainer Rodney Bolon and owner Sarah Bolon. The Father Patrick-Twice A Night gelding prevailed in 2:01, a half length better than Mounds For All. Nail Driver earned show.

Drew Monti piloted five winners on the 13-race card.

Prompted by a $4,549.47 carryover, The Meadows and the United States Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Initiative have established a $15,000 guarantee for Friday’s Early Pick-4. Friday’s 13-race card also offers an $858.14 carryover in the Pick-5 (race 9-13). First post is 5:10 p.m.
