Plymouth, ME — Longtime assistant trainer Adam Gray, son of well-known Maine horseman Doug Gray, struck out on his own this year, opening his own public stable with his wife, Stephanie May Gray.

And on August 5 at the Topsham Fair, Adam Gray drove in his first pari-mutuel race, aboard Lightinin Spur.

Jay Burns was there to capture the story on video, including comments from Doug Gray; Hall of Famer Don Richards; and veteran drivers Greg Bowden, Drew Campbell, Kevin Switzer, Kevin Switzer Jr. and Ruel “Dude” Goodblood Jr.
