Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund accepting 2021 grant applications

Schenectady, NY — The Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund is now accepting grant applications from certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

The Fund will award grants up to $100,000 for 2021. Awards will be based on the strength of proposal and its adherence to the statutorily mandated mission of the Fund, to promote agriculture through the breeding of Standardbred horses and the conduct of equine research within the state.

Grant proposals from eligible organizations must be received by the Fund no later than June 10.

The grant application can be found here. Interested organizations are asked to review the application and the Fund’s grants policy to determine their eligibility. The Fund will review each grant application it receives and invite eligible organizations to present at a board meeting tentatively planned in late June. Grant awardees will receive written notification, including deadlines for submission of expenditure reports.

“The Fund has long provided grants to help accomplish its mission by championing programs that support and promote the breeding, research and racing of Standardbred horses in New York,” said Executive Director M. Kelly Young. “Awarding organizations which also make this a priority is how we enhance the work of the New York Sire Stakes program and provide a foundation for the next generation to enjoy the Standardbred breed.”

Please mail proposals to: Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund, Attention: Kelly Young, 1 Broadway Center, Schenectady, NY 12305 or email to kelly.young@gaming.ny.gov.
