Amandas Bestfriend wins at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — Amandas Bestfriend ($12.20, $5.60, $3.80) found room along the pylons and closed fastest of all to win the $10,000 third race on Thursday night at the Meadowlands. Trained by John McDermott, Amandas Bestfriend paced the mile in a career best time of 1:54. Daniel Dube steered the daughter of Shady Character to a two length victory over Gamblers Daughter ($4.80, $4.40) in the conditioned event for three-year-old fillies. It was three lengths back to Jenna Gonna Getcha ($4.00), who finished third after launching a second-over bid. Amandas Bestfriend notched her second win in eight starts this season and boosted her career earnings to $30,139. McDermott, who resides in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, shares ownership of the filly with Anthony Lombardi, Jr. of Fairfield, New Jersey and Two H’s Farm (Alan Hogan) of Jupiter, Florida.
