American Tour N repeats in Saratoga series

Saratoga Springs, NY — Odds-on favorites were upset in the first two third-round divisions of Tuesday’s (April 4) Step Up To The Plate Claiming Series action for fillies and mares at Saratoga Casino Hotel, but American Tour N prevailed at 2-5 in the final $17,500 split to take top series honors with a 1:54.3 mile.

After sweeping from off the pace to win at 4-1 in the second round, American Tour N grabbed the early lead and made it look easy, going coast to coast and winning by 1-1/2 lengths over Lookintomyeyes. Jimmy Devaux drove the 9-year-old daughter of American Ideal for trainer Brett Derue, who shares ownership with Steve Picarazzi.
