Highalator launched from post eight in pursuit of the early lead, but was parked three-wide into the first turn by Goldberg before clearing at the end of a :27 first quarter. Meanwhile, Tim Tetrick floated Ana Afreet N into fourth before going into attack mode with a lap to go and pacing alongside a stubborn Highalator through a :56.2 half. Up the backstretch, Highalator strung Ana Afreet N out through a :26 third quarter, but Ana Afreet N was able to seize control heading into the final turn. Shadow Cat and Dexter Dunn took up the chase, but 2-1 second choice Ana Afreet N found another gear and drew off to win by 3-1/4 lengths.

Goldberg (Montrell Teague) found room late to save second; Itsrockandroll A (Corey Callahan) rallied off cover for third. Highalator (Rick Still), the 8-5 favorite, faded to fourth.

Ana Afreet N, a 5-year-old son of Bettor’s Delight, paced a :54 final half to secure victory for trainer Jeff Cullipher, who shares ownership with Pollack Racing LLC.

Tetrick won four races on the card, while Victor Kirby picked up a hat trick.
