Andy Miller drives trio of Super Bowl winners

Columbus, OH — Andy Miller piloted a trio of winners in the second leg of the Super Bowl Trotting Series on Thursday night (Jan. 20) at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Dolce Ducci was one of three winners for Andy Miller in Thursday’s second leg of the Super Bowl series.

Miller’s first winner came behind favorite Dolce Ducci in 1:55.4 in the second of four $12,500 divisions. Owned by Andy Miller Stable Inc. and trained by Julie Miller, the Muscles Yankee-Self Indulgent stallion took over the lead at the three-quarter pole and drew off to a 4-3/4 length victory over Doully. Marion Mistletoe finished third.

Margaret Mancini’s Willie Count gave Andy Miller his second Super Bowl triumph when the Full Count-Hornby Dawn gelding posted a two length victory in a time of 1:56.2. Trained by Chris Scicluna, Willie Count defeated Political Muscle with Fortissimo checking in third.

Miller completed the hat trick of Super Bowl winners behind Tanah Merah Farms LLC’s Monsignor Flan in 1:55.2. Trained by Andy’s brother, Erv Miller, the S J’s Photo-Fox Valley Flan gelding opened up a huge lead at the top of the lane and then coasted to a 2-1/2 length score over Alcarine, with Madimpulse Hanover third.

Miller just missed a clean sweep of the Super Bowl series as the the opening split went to Peter Barbato and Henrik Lundell’s Zeitgeist in a time of 1:56.1. Brian Sears was in the bike for trainer/co-owner Lundell as the SJ’s Caviar-Psychic Friend gelding nipped heavy favorite Ellen’s Isle and Miller by a neck at the wire. Special Eddie was third.

Easy De Vie and Jim Meittinis won the White Ruffles opener in 1:53.4.

Also on tap on Thursday at The Big M were a trio of $12,500 White Ruffles divisions for pacing mares. The opener went to Bill Reepmeyer’s Easy De Vie with an off the pace score in 1:53.4. Jim Meittinis drove the No Pan Intended-Miss Easy mare for trainer Bruce Lauer. The longshot ($111.80) winner scored by 1-3/4 lengths over Sure Fun Tryin’ with Town Gigolo third.

The middle division saw Rose and George Bonomo’s Only The World move to the lead by the half-mile marker and go on to a 1:54.3 score for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Mark Ford. The Cole Muffler-Visa Bella mare nipped Fortunes Smile by three-quarters of a length with Summer Snow third.

In the final White Ruffles split, Tetrick was once again in the winner’s circle with owner/trainer Bob Rice’s Tryst in a 1:53.4 clocking. The daughter of The Panderosa-Society Ann was a neck winner over favored Fax Me with Odds On Riesling getting the show dough.
