Animal Welfare Project seeks horse

from the Animal Welfare Project

Valley Forge, PA — Animal Welfare Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Valley Forge, Pa., has an opening for a horse who needs a working home. This animal will become our ambassador as well as be used for community service (search and rescue, plus visits by scouts, autistic people, etc.).

The horse we choose will represent our organization in public. We will not be purchasing an animal nor paying adoption fees. However, we are willing to provide this horse with a safe, solid and permanent home where he will be well cared for.

Our requirements are:
1. Gelding, good feet and bone.
2. Relatively large; must be able to carry a large man in western tack.
3. Must not pace.
4. Have a known background — he will be entering directly into a boarding stable, with no quarantine area.
5. Have a calm, willing, relaxed attitude.
6. Should ship well, have basic barn manners, etc.
7. Able to do trail work several times weekly.
8. Not a pansy-type show horse! This horse must be capable of working in all types of weather, etc.
9. Comfortable being pastured outside many hours (will also have a stall).
10. Comfortable working with several types of riders, should they have to switch off during a rescue call.

Note: Because we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we can also provide a tax deduction.
