Ann Mossbarger, 88, dies

Columbus, OH — Ann Mossbarger, 88, of Bloomingburg, Ohio, died Jan. 6, 2013, at at her residence.

Mrs. Mossbarger was born March 24, 1924, in Greenfield, Ohio, to Harry and Blanche Watkins Curtis. She lived her early life in New Vienna, was a 1940 graduate of New Vienna High School and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University in 1945. While at Ohio State, she was the first female business editor of The Lantern, the school newspaper. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and remained an active lifetime member.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church where she was a member of Faith Circle of the United Methodist Women and for many years taught Sunday school and the Bethel Bible Study. She enjoyed 50 years in her bridge club with her special friends.

On Sept. 8, 1945, she married Dr. Donald E. Mossbarger and assisted him throughout the years with his veterinary practice and later with Midland Acres, while also rearing five children.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mossbarger is survived by her children, JoAnn Sedgwick (friend, Terry Cross), Dr. John (Kyle), Jeannie (Steve) Bihl, Jay (Brenda) and Jan (Glen) Cobb; grandchildren, Jodi (Matt) Chandler, Jamie (Kyle) Butts, Jill (Chris) Cottrill, Jason (Mary) Bihl, Jon (Nicole) Bihl, Jennifer (Sam) Cathey, Justin Bihl, Jake Mossbarger, Jackie Cobb, Jenna Cobb and Josie Cobb; ten great- grandchildren; and three additional-great grandchildren soon to be born.

The funeral will be Thursday (Jan. 10) at 11 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Washington Court House with the Rev. Mick Whistler, pastor at the church, and Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday (Jan. 9) from 4-8 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
