Annie McGuire N gets perfect trip at Rosecroft

FT. WASHINGTON, MD — Annie McGuire N [$4.40, $2.10, $2.10] earned a well-deserved victory in the $7,400 Winners Over pace for mares at Rosecroft Raceway. The In The Pocket mare got the pocket trip and closed on the leader in the stretch to win by one and a quarter lengths.

Driven by Corey Braden, Annie McGuire N left the gate from post position four as the even-money choice. She battled for the lead with Go Flyin N (Tom Jackson) before settling in along the rail in second through fractions of 28.1, 57.4 and 1:26.0. Realistic Ability (Chris Offutt), pacing first over after the three-quarter pole, was a strong challenger as well. However, Annie McGuire N had the passing lane to her advantage and was first under the wire with a season’s best time of 1:54.4.

Racing for the RAM Racing Stables LLC of Maine and out of the training barn of Greg White, Annie McGuire N earned her second win of the year from seven starts. She upped her lifetime earnings to over $91,000.

Go Flyin N [$2.60, $2.10], trained by Wayne Whitson, Jr., held on for second after cutting the early fractions. The seven-year-old Sands A Flyin mare recently showed a strong effort at Freehold Raceway, finishing second in the Open Handicap with a time of 1:55.4 on the half mile track.

Realistic Ability [$2.20] was third for the Offutt connections. The daughter of Real Artist was an upset winner in last week’s edition of the pace, and showed her talent by making up lengths in the stretch with a 29.0 last quarter.

The 4-2-3 triple returned $16.60.

Live racing is scheduled once again on Tuesday evening at Rosecroft. Post time is 5:35 p.m.
