Annual Round Barn fund-raiser auction on Oct. 5

from the Stable of Memories

Lexington, KY — The annual fall fund-raiser for Floral Hall, better known as the Round Barn or Stable of Memories, located adjacent to The Red Mile will be held Sunday (Oct. 5), the day of the Kentucky Futurity and Allerage Opens at The Red Mile.

A preview of the auction items begins on Thursday morning (Oct. 2).

This year’s fund-raiser is both a live and silent auction, with previews of the auction items from Oct. 2 until it is closed out at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. The live auction will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

This year’s auction includes jewelry, harness racing toys, equine art, a jogging suit, and memorabilia, and many other items. All proceeds benefit the Stable of Memories, a 501c3 corporation whose sole purpose is to preserve the historic octagon building.

Floral Hall is open every day when there is Grand Circuit racing at The Red Mile and there are also several exhibits and a gallery of historic photos. This year’s featured exhibits include horseshoes from famous equines spanning more than half a century, with footwear worn by such greats as Horse of the Year Proximity through today’s champions, and a display honoring the late Hall of Fame Immortal horseman Dick Buxton.
